This antique Victorian Civil War era black silk ebony folding handle marquis mourning parasol dates from the 1860s. It is made of a black silk fabric, with a black layered scalloped ruffle trim edging creating an eight point star pattern design. There is a black ebony wood carved curled handle and folding shaft, with a marquis tilt top mechanism inside (see close-up) to keep the sun off your face. It is fully lined inside with black silk. The parasol measures 28 inches long extended, 16 1/2 inches long when folded and the fabric outside is 56 inches in circumference when opened up. It is in good useable condition, with only a few small frays in the silk fabric inside lining. This is a wonderful mourning parasol! |
