This antique Victorian Civil War era black silk ebony folding handle marquis mourning parasol dates from the 1860s. It is made of a black silk fabric, with a scalloped edge bottom. There is a black ebony wood handle and folding shaft, with a ball tip finial and base handle. There is a marquis tilt top mechanism inside (see close-up) to keep the sun off your face. It is fully lined inside with black silk. The parasol measures 25 inches long extended, 14 inches long when folded and the fabric outside is 56 inches in circumference when opened up. It is in good useable condition, with only a few tiny frays on the inside silk lining. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana mourning parasol! |
