This antique silk embroidered floral birds nest picture square dates from the early 19th century. It is hand stitched, made of a brown silk fabric, with a colorful hand embroidered silk stitched needlework pictorial scene. There is lush foliage, flowers and a small yellow bird with a raised chenille embroidered nest and two babies inside which appears to have been appliqued and reinforced on the back. This charming small square sampler picture has been beautifully hand made with wonderful workmanship and would have been framed as a piece of textile art. It measures 17 1/2 by 16 1/2 inches. The silk square is in as-is fair condition, with some tiny frays in the center and is frayed around the edges. This is truly a rare and superb piece of early 1800s antique textile folk art!
