Antique Japanese Sparrow Bird Silk Embroidered Handscreen Fixed Fan is made of pinkish purple mauve color fine sheer silk, with pastel silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidered flowers, bamboo and a sparrow bird.

This antique Japanese sparrow bird silk embroidered handscreen fixed fan dates from 1910. It is made of pinkish purple mauve color fine sheer silk, with pastel silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidered flowers, bamboo and a sparrow bird. There is a dark celluloid faux tortoise shell handle attached to the fan screen. This fabulous fixed fan rigid handscreen measures 15 inches long and 9 inches wide. It is in good condition, with only some slight wear and a few tiny holes in the silk near the handle base (see close-up). This is a museum deaccession with the itemized number written on the back handle. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Japanese textile art!
