This antique Chinese & South American woven straw handscreen fixed fan pair dates from the mid 19th century. It is made of tightly woven natural straw basket weave. There is a round shaped fan screen with a black stripe woven straw handle attached. It is a museum deaccession with the itemized number written on the back and a note stating it is from South America. The fan measures 13 1/2 inches long. There is a hatchet shaped fan with green silk ribbon trim and a red painted wood handle. It is also a museum deaccession with a note stating it is from China. They are in good condition, with only some minor wear and a small crack in the red wooden handle (see close-up). These are truly a wonderful piece of antique ethnic fan art! |
