This pair of antique inspired Chinese silk embroidered bear fifth rank military badge is a reproduction meant to resemble ones from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. The badge is made of colorful padded satin stitch hand embroidery work. There is a brown bear with stub tail, open mouth, with flames emanating from its body in the center, with the swastika symbol for abundance and good luck, bats, flowers and clouds of smoke in the background. There is a embroidered red sun disk on the left for a males badge and waves of water along the bottom. The badge is of the bear which is the symbol of the fifth rank military badge and stands for strength and courage. There is a matching pair of badges, with one split in the middle for wearing on the front opening of a robe and are both are backed, lined in blue silk. They are in excellent condition and beautifully made. The badge measures 12 by 12 inches. This is truly a wonderful piece of Chinese textile art!
