This pair of antique inspired Chinese silk embroidered tiger fourth rank military badge is a reproduction meant to resemble ones from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. The badge is made of colorful padded satin stitch hand embroidery work. There is a black stripe tiger with spotted long tail and open mouth in the center, with bats, trees, flowers and clouds of smoke in the background. There is a embroidered red sun disk on the left for a males badge and waves of water along the bottom. The badge is of the tiger which is the symbol of the fourth rank military badge and is a symbol for bravery and courage. There is a matching pair of badges, with one split in the middle for wearing on the front opening of a robe and are both are backed, lined in blue silk. They are in excellent condition. The badge measures 12 by 12 inches. This is a wonderful piece of Chinese textile art!
