This pair of antique Chinese silk embroidered forbidden stitch robe sleeve band cuffs date from the mid 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. They are hand stitched, made of a pale peach color silk damask weave fabric. There are intricately done tiny forbidden stitch Peking knot hand embroidery work done in a scenic picturesque landscape design with blue highlight accents. This pretty pair of embroidered silk bands would have been used on a Manchu court robe sleeve cuffs for added decoration and symbolism. Each band measures 21 1/2 inches long and is 5 inches wide. They are in as-is fair condition, with some fraying along the edgings (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art! |
