This exquisite antique red silk brocade gold lamé rosette ribbon work flower basket piano shawl dates from 1915. It is made of a rose red color silk damask floral leaf rococo pattern brocade fabric, with gold metallic lamé and colorful chenille embroidered trim accents. There is a large gold mesh flower basket with ombre silk rosette ribbon work flowers appliqued onto the corner. This amazing Art Nouveau textile might have been used as a piano shawl, throw for a boudoir bedcover or tablecloth, with hand knotted red & gold multi color silk fringe tassel trim surrounding the entire piece and is backed in linen. The fabric square measures 58 by 48 inches and the fringe trim is 18 inches long. It is in good condition, but has not been cleaned and has a slight musty odor, with a few faint small stains. This is truly a rare and exceptional piece of antique textile art!
