This antique Victorian era lithograph silver foil inlay pierced pleated folding fan dates from the 1850s. It is made of pleated paper with silver foil embossing, hand colored painted lithographs and a blue background on one side and white on the other. There are beautiful vignette medallion prints on both sides of women, men and children wearing period dress. This fabulous folding fan has elaborate intricately carved and pierced bone sticks and guards, with silver foil inlay accents and a mother of pearl rivet holding the fan together at the bottom. The fan measures 10 1/2 inches long and 22 inches wide when opened. It is in good condition, but does have a broken mended repair to one guard stick (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of Victoriana work of art!
