This antique Ottoman period Turkish Hagia Sophia gold metallic embroidered linen tablecloth dates from 1920s. It is made of a natural flax linen fabric with hand embroidered colored metallic and gold threads done in tambour chain stitch crewel needlework. There are embroidered flowers, stars, crescent moons, Arabic lettering and the Hagia Sophia, Ayasofya mosque in the center. This exquisite embroidered square tablecloth has a gold metallic crochet lace trim border edging. It measures 38 by 38 inches. The tablecover is in good condition, but was used as a wall hanging with tiny frays in each corner from being nailed, hung to a wall and has a small discoloration tarnish stain near the center (see close-up).
