This antique silver stumpwork beaded heraldic heraldry coat of arms Russia dates from the 18th century. It is hand stitched, made of a white silk fabric with three dimensional raised silver bullion stumpwork embroidered decorations and silver metal sequin beaded accents. This rare early coat of arms of the Russian Empire has the double headed Imperial eagle and crown above, derived from its medieval Byzantine origins. It is backed and lined on a linen fabric with padding inside. This fabulous family crest heraldic coat of arms has a pocket shape and might have been used on clothing or a tapestry wall hanging. It measures 11 by 8 inches and is in as-is fair condition with several small frays on the silk fabric, faint stains on the backing and is missing some silver thread embroidery work, sequin trimmings. This is truly an amazing, rare piece of early Russian Empire textile art! |
