This antique Victorian Civil War era black silk folding handle marquis mourning parasol dates from the 1860s. It is made of a black silk fabric, with a layered tiered scalloped ruffle trim edging. There is a black ebony color wood carved handle and folding shaft, with a marquis tilt top mechanism inside to keep the sun off your face. It is fully lined inside with a black silk fabric. The parasol measures 28 inches long extended, 15 inches long when folded and the fabric outside is 64 inches in circumference when opened up. It is in good working order condition, with only the inside silk lining having several frayed splits and some dings scuffs on the wood handle (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful antique Victoriana mourning parasol!
