It is made of pleated paper with hand colored painted lithographs of calling cards bearing decorative designs of flowers, a beautiful vignette of children with lambs at the well, gold foil trim along the top and glossy black paper backing.

This antique Victorian era lithograph calling cards autograph paper pleated folding fan dates from the 1890s. It is made of pleated paper with hand colored painted lithographs of calling cards bearing decorative designs of flowers, a beautiful vignette of children with lambs at the well, gold foil trim along the top and glossy black paper backing. This fabulous folding fan would have been used for autographs perhaps owned by a girl graduating school. It has elaborate intricately carved and pierced wooden sticks and guards and a rivet holding the fan together at the bottom. The fan measures 11 inches long and 28 inches wide when opened. It is in good unused condition, with only some faint foxing age spots and some paper peeling separation on the back (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of Victoriana fan art!
