This antique Victorian era worsted wool embroidered needlework crazy quilt dates from the late 19th century. It is hand stitched, made of a wide variety of colorful worsted wool woven twill and plain dress fabric pieces with decorative varying stitching techniques, French knots, embroidery, fancy needlework. This amazing crazy quilt has a fan design in one square, embroidered flowers, a butterfly and several autographed names which were perhaps the creators of the quilt. There is a soft flannel fabric floral print backing, with red yarn trim ties knots on back. This charming quilt has been beautifully hand made with wonderful workmanship. The quilt measures 85 by 75 inches. It is in good as-is condition, with a few frayed damaged fabric pieces. It came straight out of a trunk and has not been cleaned. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique quilt textile folk art! |
