This antique Chinese colorful silk embroidered lotus flower fringed pouch purse bag dates from the 1920s. It is made of a purple silk fabric, with a raised padded satin stitch hand embroidered pink lotus flower and green leaf pad. There is multicolored silk fringe trim hanging down from the bottom, pink silk damask brocade woven ribbon streamers and a cotton calico print fabric rosette appliqué trim. This pretty pouch purse bag has a drawstring gold rope top closure, colorful long fringe bottom and is fully lined in linen. These pouches also called pockets were meant to hold small things such as coins or seals since there were no pockets on the clothing. The purse measures 6 inches long, 4 inches wide and has an 8 1/2 inch long fringe trim. It is in good condition. This is truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of antique Chinese textile art!
