There is an eight point star design in the center, checkered, scalloped patterns, with a floral vine leaf design densely embroidered onto the fabric in a circular pattern and hand knotted macrame silk fringe trim edging. The embroidery work is exquisitely done with wonderful workmanship. Hungary's tradition of folk embroidery dates back to the middle ages. It is in good condition, but has not been cleaned and has a slight musty cigarette smoke odor. This is a truly a wonderful piece of Hungarian textile folk art! |
