The alphabet and numbers 1-10 are embroidered across the top, with a nautical anchor, ships wheel, horse, griffin, dragon, butterfly, cross, grape vine leaf, flowers and other decorative pattern designs along the mid section and bottom. It is signed with the initials CD and the date 1898. The sampler measures 40 inches long and 15 inches wide. It is in good condition, with only a few faint small age spot stains. This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of antique sampler textile folk art!
