Antique Vintage Japanese Hand Tooled Leather Painted Clutch Purse & Billfold Wallet
This vintage Japanese hand tooled leather painted clutch purse and wallet set dates from the 1920s. It is made of an off white cream color hand tooled leather with hand painted detail accents. The purse has Mount Fuji, a pagoda temple shrine, trees, ships on the front and Mount Fuji with a small boat full of people on the back and more mountainous shrines inside. This pretty purse has a clutch envelope style, with a fold over flap snap closure, gold yellow silk lined with inside pockets, a ball clasp inner coin purse and a smaller coin purse on the bottom outside corner. The purse measures 8 inches long and 4 inches wide. Included is a matching billfold style wallet with a scenic water, boat motif and is leather lined. The wallet measures 6 by 3 1/2 inches. They are in good condition, with some minor wear, a faint stain on the back purse corner and a frayed leather strap on the pocket inside the wallet (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Japaneses art!
