Antique Chinese Cinnabar Silk Forbidden Stitch Embroidery Pouch Purse Small Bag This antique Chinese cinnabar silk forbidden stitch embroidery pouch purse small bag dates from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is hand stitched, made of a cinnabar color silk fabric, with colorful forbidden stitch tiny seed stitch hand embroidery work of peony flowers, butterflies and precious objects.

This antique Chinese cinnabar silk forbidden stitch embroidery pouch purse small bag dates from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is hand stitched, made of a cinnabar color silk fabric, with colorful forbidden stitch tiny seed stitch hand embroidery work of peony flowers, butterflies and precious objects. This pretty pouch purse bag has a small envelope style, with flap covers and a front flap opening. There are Peking, China export stickers attached on the backside (see close-up). These pouches also called pockets were meant to hold small things such as coins or seals since there were no pockets on the clothing. The bag measures 5 1/2 by 4 1/2 inches. It is in good condition, with only some slight fade discoloration on the backing, lining. This is a wonderful one of a kind piece of antique Chinese textile art!
