They are made of a white sheer cut silk damask weave fabric, with woven auspicious symbols, bats, cranes.

This pair of antique Chinese crane bat white silk embroidered robe sleeve band cuffs date from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. They are made of a white sheer cut silk damask weave fabric, with woven auspicious symbols, bats, cranes. There are colorful silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work crane roundels, bats, the Eight Immortals attributes and gold metallic thread couching work outlining the designs. This matching pair of long embroidered silk bands would have been used on a Manchu robes wide sleeve cuff for added decoration and symbolism. There are Chinese calligraphy characters on the back side. Each band measures 48 inches long, 6 inches wide and the embroidery work measures 21 inches long. They are in good as-is condition, with a few small frays along the edging and some faint stains, discoloration in areas (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art!
