vintage Chinese cheongsam silk embroidered dragon dress dates from
the 1930s. It is made of a black silk satin fabric with a orange
& white silk hand embroidered Chinese dragon, clouds and pearl.
This lovely form fitting straight sleeveless cheongsam Chinese dress
has front side snaps and zipper for closure, a high mandarin style
collar, and is fully lined in black silk. Manchu women wore normally
a one-piece dress which were called "qipao" or "banner
dress" and has become the traditional dress for Chinese women.
The dress measures 35 inches long, with 36 inch hips, a 28 inch
waist, and 40 inch bust. This pretty "Suzie Wong" style
dress is in excellent clean wearable condition with only a small
slight faded spot on the front skirt. It is truly a piece of wearable
art.
