Victorian Gentlemen's Silver Brocade Waistcoat Vest. |
This antique Victorian era gentlemen's silver brocade waistcoat vest dates from the 1850s. It is hand stitched and made of an off white cream color silk brocade fabric, with a silver fleck textured pattern design. There is a linen fabric backing, with an adjustable tie strap and below a brass buckle strap sewn onto the back. It is lined in linen, with leather trim sewn along the bottom front inside hem. There is a narrow fold over lapel collar, two bottom front slit pockets, a smaller slit pocket under the arm and 6 matching fabric silk covered buttons for closure on the front. The vest measures 20 inches long, with a 30 inch waist and 38 inch chest. It is in good wearable condition, with only some faint age spotting on the lower front (see close-up). This is truly a quality made dapper refined gentlemen's early Victorian vest.
