This antique floral silk embroidered large Canton piano shawl dates from the 1920s. It is hand stitched and made of a black silk fabric background with colorful silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work. There is a lush floral foliage vine leaf pattern with pink, purple, orange and yellow flowers embroidered throughout. There is a fabulous hand knotted macramé black silk fringe which measures 25 inches long surrounding the entire shawl with rounded corners. The shawls fabric square measures 65 by 65 inches. This quality made Manton Canton Chinese Cantonese style Spanish Flamenco shawl is quite heavy weighing over 4 pounds. It is in excellent wearable condition, with only a small faint yellow satin near the edging (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable textile art.
