This Edwardian era vintage Berthe May ecru wool soutache embroidered belted peplum suit jacket dates from 1910. It is made of a French beige ecru color fine soft wool fabric, with ecru beige raised soutache embroidery work Arts & Crafts decorative designs and cream velvet trim. This stunning suit jacket has fitted belted waist with pleated peplum skirt bottom, 3/4 length full sleeves with wide rolled cuffs and hook & eye closures down the front. It is fully lined in a cream silk satin fabric, with a "Berthe May: 125 West 56th Street New York" label sewn inside. The coat measures 20 inches long in the front, 22 inches long in the back, with a 26 inch waist, 36 inch bust and 12 1/2 inch back. It is in good wearable condition, with only 2 tiny moth hole nip holes on the sleeve and slight fraying of the inside neck lining. It is missing the skirt to complete this quality made women's walking suit. This is a wonderful piece of wearable antique textile art! |
