This antique Victorian era black and purple silk mourning cropped cloak cape capelet dates from 1880. It is made of a black silk damask brocade pattern fabric, with sheer black silk chiffon pleated ruffle trim edging and a lilac purple silk lining inside. This stunning short cropped cloak cape capelet has a hook closure at the neck and stand up collar. Both purple and black were used for the various stages of mourning. The cape measures 13 inches long, with a 80 inch bottom circumference and 18 inch shoulders. It is in good wearable condition. This is a wonderful piece of Victoriana mourning wearable art!
