Antique Normandy Lace White Embroidered Batiste Applique Drop Waist Dress
This exquisite vintage antique Normandy lace white embroidered batiste applique drop waist dress dates from the 1920s. It is made of patchwork of sheer white mixed lace fabrics, with a fine cotton batiste bib front insert panel done in a raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery, french knot, drawn cut work. There is valenciennes French bobbin lace and a fine windowpane mesh fabric with white cotton appliques sewn onto it. This lovely lace drop waist dress is loose fitting, with a ruffled trim front neckline, long sleeves, snap closures along the front bib insert panel and is sheer, unlined. The dress measures 42 inches long, with 36 inch hips, a 32 inch waist, 34 inch bust, 16 inch back and 18 inch long sleeves. It is in good condition, with only a small frayed pull on the back mesh net fabric (see close-up). This is truly a rare and exceptional piece of wearable lace art!
