1940s Vintage Hattie Carnegie Chocolate Brown Grosgrain Silk Suit Jacket & Dress
This vintage Hattie Carnegie chocolate brown grosgrain silk suit jacket and dress dates from the 1940s. It is made of a chocolate brown heavy ribbed textured grosgrain silk fabric. This gorgeous designer two piece outfit has a dress, with a rounded scoop neckline, short cap sleeves, applique trim on the front, around the fitted waist, a mid length skirt, side zipper closure and is unlined. The dress measures 42 inches long, with 40 inch hips, a 28 inch waist and 36 inch bust. There is a matching fabric tailored suit jacket, with a brown velvet trimmed collar, applique trim front, shoulder padding, long sleeves, peplum skirted waist, silk button front closure and is fully lined. The jacket measures 21 inches long, with a 30 inch waist, 36 inch bust, 15 inch back and 20 inch long sleeves. There is a "Hattie Carnegie Styles Exclusive With I. Magnin Co." designer label sewn inside. The outfit is in good condition and has never been worn, with the original Saks Fifth Avenue price tag of $12.50, size 12. The jacket has some slight faint fade discoloration along one side sleeve. This is truly a wonderful piece of quality made designer wearable art!
