This vintage Art Deco black velvet silver rhinestone beaded flapper dress evening gown dates from the 1920s. It is made of a black silk velvet fabric, with silver crystal hand bead work and prong set rhinestone accents done in a floral motif design along the side. This fabulous flapper dress evening gown has a loose fitting drop waist style, with beaded rosette medallion fringed appliqué trim on the sides, long dramatic draping armhole shoulder strap loops, is sleeveless, with a long floor length skirt, shoulder snap closures and is fully lined with a built in white silk camisole top lining inside. There is a "Julius Garfinckel & Co. Washington" store label sewn inside the waistband. The dress measures 56 inches long, with a 36 inch waist and 38 inch bust. It is in excellent condition, with only a few loose missing beads mostly from the beaded fringe strands and some ink staining discoloration on the inside silk lining. This is truly an amazing piece of Art Deco wearable beaded textile art! |
