Victorian Gray Wool Straight Sole Dainty Ankle Half Boots. |
This pair of early Victorian era antique gray wool straight sole dainty ankle half boots date from the 1840s. They are hand stitched and made of a light dove gray color fine wool fabric, with side lacing which is missing and has been replaced with white thread laces. These early ankle length dainty half boots have straight hard leather bottom soles, squared toes, with gray leather toe caps and a low stacked wooden Louis XV French heel. They are lined in a ivory cotton twill fabric. The boots measure 4 1/2 inches tall, 10 inches long and 2 inches wide. They are in as-is fair condition, with some staining along the sides, some fraying of the wool fabric and separation along the bottom side soles. These are a rare and early find which are a museum deaccession from the Brooklyn Museum. |
