This antique Russian Caucasus Uzbek beaded square skullcap Doppa hat dates from the 1960s. It is made of a burgundy red velvet fabric, with crystal hand beaded work on top and black velvet trim edging the bottom. This ethnic gentlemen's doppa square Muslim skullcap originated in the Caucasus and would have been worn by Kazan Tatars, Uzbeks and Uyghurs. It is fully lined in a red hand stitched quilted fabric, with a paper label sewn inside in the Cyrillic alphabet dated from 1969. The hat measures 21 inches inside circumference. It is in excellent clean wearable condition and looks to have never been worn.
