This vintage colorful straw raffia ribbon work embroidered flapper cloche hat dates from the 1920s. It is made of a colorful straw and raffia done in a ribbon work embroidered technique covering the hat in a abstract geometric patchwork design. This fabulous flapper cloche style hat has a small iridescent peach color silk rolled upturned brim. It is fully lined and has an "E. Spath Smith 134 East King Street Lancaster, PA" label inside. The hat measures 23 inches inside crown circumference. It is in good condition, with only some fraying of the silk lining under the brim. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable millinery art!
