This vintage Ottoman Turkish Tugra smoking skull cap black silk gold embroidered folk costume hat dates from 1920s. It is made of a black silk fabric, with gold metallic and colorful threads done in tambour chain stitch embroidery work. There are embroidered Arabic lettering and the Tugra of Mehmed VI the 36th and last sultan of the Ottoman Empire on the top. This stunning traditional Turkish folk costume skull cap has a small round brimless shape and is fully lined in a light purple lavender color linen fabric with a "Canaday" label sewn inside. The hat measures 21 1/2 inches in circumference inside the crown. It is in good condition, with only some slight discoloration soiling along the inside lining. This is truly a beautiful piece of antique Turkish textile art!
