This antique gold bullion embroidered tracht Bavarian German Austrian folk costume hat dates from the late 19th century. It is made of a black wool felt fabric, with gold bullion raised embroidery work accented with gold metal prong set rhinestones and gold lamé damask weave ribbon trim edging under the brim. There are gold tassels with rhinestone accents, black silk braided rope trim on the top and black silk moire ribbon attached with hook closures underneath the back of the head with a large bow trim and cascading ribbon streamers draping down the back. This early European tracht traditional Bavarian, German, Austrian folk costume hat has a wide brim boater style with a low round crown and is fully lined. There is a paper label inside from "J. & K. Kruifer Hutgefhaft Niederndorf". The hat measures 34 inches in circumference around the outer brim, 17 inches inside crown circumference and 10 1/2 inches wide across the brim. It is in excellent condition. This is a truly a rare and wonderful wearable piece of early Bavarian regional textile folk art! $200 |
