This vintage Finchley Establishment Fifth Ave NY men's black silk collapsible opera top hat dates from the 1920s. It is made of a black silk grosgrain ribbed textured fabric, with matching hat band ribbon side bow trim. This dashing dapper gentleman's opera "topper" top hat is collapsible, which is stored flat and pops up to be worn. It is fully lined in black silk and has "The Finchley Establishment Fifth Ave. New York" gold embossed label inside, missing the size tag. The hat measures 5 1/2 inches tall, 10 inches wide across, 12 inches wide from front to back and has a 22 inches inside circumference. This quality made hat is in good as-is condition, has been gently worn with some wear, wrinkles from storage, a small separation from brim to crown in one area, a puckered open seam on the inside lining and a tiny frayed hole on the front brim edging (see close-up). It is truly a wonderful piece of gentleman's wearable millinery art! |
