This pair of vintage antique Chinese child's red silk embroidered dragon baby booties boots shoes date from the 1920s. They are made of a red silk fabric, with colorful hand embroidery work of dragons along the sides and creating a cute three dimensional animal face on the fronts with long blue silk fringe whiskers.

This pair of vintage antique Chinese child's red silk embroidered dragon baby booties boots shoes date from the 1920s. They are made of a red silk fabric, with colorful hand embroidery work of dragons along the sides and creating a cute three dimensional animal face on the fronts with long blue silk fringe whiskers. Dragon shoes were used to frighten off evil spirits and to help a toddler learn how to walk. They were used as a protective symbol to attempt to ward off the high mortality rates. These precious long baby booties boot style shoes have red silk soft bottom soles and are fully lined in a red and white gingham check cotton fabric inside. The shoes measure 6 inches tall, 3 1/2 inches long, and 1 1/2 inches wide. They are in good condition, gently worn, with only some slight wear and soiling. The shoes are a beautiful piece of antique Chinese textile art and would make for a wonderful display piece!
