Turkish Tugra Embroidered Gold Reticule Purse. |
This
antique Ottoman period Turkish Tugra embroidered gold reticule purse dates
from 1920s. It is all hand embroidered with colored metallic and
gold threads done in tambour chain stitch crewel needlework. There
are embroidered flowers, stars, crescent moons, Arabic lettering
and the Tugra of Mehmed VI the 36th and last sultan of the Ottoman
Empire in the center. The purse has gold metallic crochet lace trim
edging, with hand knotted gold fringe tassels hanging down the bottom.
There is a drawstring closure and blue silk lining inside. This
unique drawstring reticule pouch purse measures 9 1/2 inches long
and 7 inches wide. It is in excellent useable condition. This is
truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of antique Turkish textile
