This antique Victorian era hand painted dandelion butterfly feather fan and box dates from 1900. It is made of a sheer fine off white silk fabric, with a beautifully hand painted dandelion floral butterfly motif and white fluffy soft down feathers trimming along the top. Dandelions are the symbol of love and affection returned, desire, flirting and faithfulness. There are celluloid ivory color sticks, guards and loop, with pearl rivet attached on the bottom holding the fan together. This fabulous fan might have been used by a lady for a garden tea party or wedding. The lovely large fan measures 14 inches long and 35 inches wide when opened up and is in excellent useable condition. Included with the fan is the original cardboard box, which has some wear. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana art. |
